My only quibble: After all the fuss it makes to be let in, the cat should either:
a) refuse to come in once the door is opened
or
b) walk in, sniff, then start mewling to be let out as soon as the door is shut again.
True. At least the cat hesitates and has to be coaxed in. But I would have liked your option B better…
