I really love the design of this creature.It looks pretty bad-ass!! Almost ‘crab-like’.It’s definitely creative and different.

I agree, but I’m much more optimistic about the new Wolf Man movie coming out of Universal starring Benecio Del Toro. Looks like they might be doing it right.

“Van Helsing” was a film I should have liked. In principle it was made for someone like me. But I got bored with the endless extremes and tedious escalation of climaxes. It was a case of: “Hey, we’ve still got a few million dollars left. Let’s have the moon falling out of the sky!”

I agree about Sommers. Van Helsing was like a computer game animatic starring Hugh Jackman.

“Deep Rising” is a personal favourite of mine, too. Very under-rated, in my opinion. And though I enjoyed Sommers’ Mummy films, it’s been all downhill for him as his budgets got bigger.

But Avery’s feeling was that the “DeepStar Six” critter was more unique, rather than that the film was a better one.

Along a similar line, I much prefer the monster in Deep Rising, and that film had an extremely cool ending.
