First Pics of Megapiranha

The first images from the Asylum’s upcoming giant monster flick, Megapiranha (US-2010; dir. Eric Forsberg) have been released, including this one:

Let’s hope that scene actually takes place!

The only actual images of the lead monster show it as somewhat smaller:

Thankfully, producer Paul Bales comments: “Don’t let the size of this one worry you… it gets bigger.”  He told Kaiju Search-Robot Avery:

The piranha in our movie are a mutant strain that start off normal size and then grow to about 100 meters as the movie progresses.

There are HUNDREDS of them and they eat EVERYTHING.

100 meters! Sounds good.

Meanwhile Paul Logan plays CIA analyst Jason Fitch, who stays about the same size:

No, really! Every analyst I’ve ever met has had biceps just like those. It’s all those hours spent analysing behind a computer.

His co-stars include pop singer Tiffany as Dr Sarah Monroe:

and Barry Williams (best known as Greg Brady on The Brady Bunch back in the 1970s) as CIA Director Bob Grady — it’s a pop culture feast!

Synopsis:

A mutant strain of giant ferocious piranha escape from the Amazon and eat their way toward Florida.

It will be released on 27 April 2010.

This one’s gonna be a blast! Can’t wait! It’s already reminding me of last year’s “Mega Shark versus Giant Octopus” and I thoroughly enjoyed that cheesfest!

  2. Jeff R says:

And this has absoluitely nothing to do with the remake of “Piranha” slatted for next year, in which prehistoric piranha are released by an earthquake or some such to attack bikini models and hopefully lakes full of swimmers.

Having seen a few things from the movie I can state that it is in no way exploitative with or without porn stars 🙂

Looks to be a great year ahead for fish based terror …

  3. Robert Hood says:

I’ll take piranha that end up 100 metres long over mere prehistoric piranha any day!
