this book is a watered down pale pale comparison to hellboy and mignola. everything is a bite from mignola....the skulls, the robots with a head/skull in a container, the stark black and white composition, the way he shades, the sound effects "BOOM", the line work, the tentacles, the fish, even the story is a weak copy.

what makes it worse is that the creators triy to convince us that he came up with this style all independently of hellboy. pathetic!

I love R13 and Hellboy, but the arguments put forth in defense of Daniel's work are flimsy and patronizing to intelligent readers. To think that the dead-on similarity is by chance is laughable. It would have carried far more integrity for Daniel to just say how much he loves the art and stories provided by Mignola and Hellboy. As for the cover and title, it obviously all works together, just call it the omage that it is - "Colossus," the red stubby horned/headed cyclops/Hellboy with the hero in its grasp, etc... Even in a university setting, ignorance us no excuse for plagiarism (not that this is plagiarism, but it's no coincidence, either), but this isn't ignorance and the strained excuses are just sad (as is the ridiculous response from Dark Horse, who are just as misguided in their response). Poor posturing; quit the charade.
