To think that the dead-on similarity is by chance is laughable. It would have carried far more integrity for Daniel to just say how much he loves the art and stories provided by Mignola and Hellboy. As for the cover and title, it obviously all works together, just call it the omage that it is - "Colossus," the red stubby horned/headed cyclops/Hellboy with the hero in its grasp, etc... Even in a university setting, ignorance us no excuse for plagiarism (not that this is plagiarism, but it's no coincidence, either), but this isn't ignorance and the strained excuses are just sad (as is the ridiculous response from Dark Horse, who are just as misguided in their response).
