In January next year Criterion is releasing a high definition digitally restored edition of <em>Gojira<\/em> [aka <em>Godzilla<\/em>]\u00a0 &#8212; the 1954 <em>daikaiju<\/em> classic directed by Ishiro Honda &#8212;\u00a0on Blu-ray and DVD.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/roberthood.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/10\/309850_1908128397618_1674082030_1387187_445535255_n.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-11081 aligncenter\" title=\"309850_1908128397618_1674082030_1387187_445535255_n\" src=\"http:\/\/roberthood.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/10\/309850_1908128397618_1674082030_1387187_445535255_n.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"350\" height=\"493\" srcset=\"https:\/\/roberthood.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/10\/309850_1908128397618_1674082030_1387187_445535255_n.jpg 350w, https:\/\/roberthood.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/10\/309850_1908128397618_1674082030_1387187_445535255_n-212x300.jpg 212w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 350px) 100vw, 350px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>After the merely half-decent releases that have appeared over the past decade, this will be the first that has been fully restored, and should display a much improved visual quality. There are some fantastic extras, too.<\/p>\n<p>This giant monster classic, which created a fearsome and deeply felt metaphor for nuclear terror, deserves top-notch treatment.
