{"id":1691,"date":"2009-02-01T09:50:51","date_gmt":"2009-01-31T22:50:51","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/roberthood.net\/blog\/?p=1691"},"modified":"2009-02-01T09:50:51","modified_gmt":"2009-01-31T22:50:51","slug":"the-ufos-are-coming","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/roberthood.net\/blog\/index.php\/2009\/02\/01\/the-ufos-are-coming\/","title":{"rendered":"The UFOs are Coming"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Backbrain definitely has a deep, dark space in it where classic &#8217;50s flying saucers zoom and zip and zap and materialise in middle-American settings to scare the inhabitants and instigate invasion proceedings.<\/p>\n<p>A while back I posted (on our sister site <a href=\"http:\/\/undeadbrainspasm.blogspot.com\/2008\/12\/new-alien-trespass.html\" target=\"_blank\">Undead Brainspasm<\/a>) information about a new retro-50s scifi horror flick called <strong>Alien Trespass<\/strong>, which is said to feature flying saucers, ray-guns, invading aliens, one-eyed monsters, an astronomer and a feisty waitress &#8212; and as more and more of its imagery appears I find myself becoming very keen on the idea. Directed by an X-Files alumni, and displaying the clean wholesomeness and primary colours of a 1950s society that exists only in our cinema-fueled imaginations, it looks like it will be a lot of fun &#8212; and all in a good way.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Alien Trespass<\/span> (US-2009; dir. R.W. Goodwin)<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Set in 1957, a fiery object from space hurtles into a California desert mountaintop. A murderous creature \u2014 the Ghota, bent on destroying all life forms on the planet \u2014 escapes from the flying saucer.
