Romero&#8217;s follow-up to <em>Diary of the Dead<\/em> (US-2007; dir. George A. Romero) has for some time been called by the in-production title of &#8220;&#8230; of the Dead&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/roberthood.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/08\/of-the-dead.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-3804\" title=\"of-the-dead\" src=\"http:\/\/roberthood.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/08\/of-the-dead.jpg\" alt=\"of-the-dead\" width=\"350\" height=\"322\" srcset=\"https:\/\/roberthood.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/08\/of-the-dead.jpg 350w, https:\/\/roberthood.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/08\/of-the-dead-300x276.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 350px) 100vw, 350px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Now (even though Romero has previously &#8212; and ironically &#8212; suggested that the title should perhaps be &#8220;Enough of the Dead&#8221;), we&#8217;ve been told that the official title is <em><strong>Survival of the Dead<\/strong><\/em>. Going on the synopsis, this makes perfect sense.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Synopsis<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>In a world where the dead rise to menace the living, rogue soldier Crocket (Alan Van Sprang) leads a band of military dropouts to refuge from the endless chaos. As they search for a place &#8221; where the shit won\u2019t get you&#8221;, they meet banished patriarch Patrick O\u2019Flynn (played by Kenneth Welsh), who promises a new Eden on the fishing and ranching outpost Plum Island. The men arrive, only to find themselves caught in an age-old battle between O\u2019Flynn\u2019s family and rival clan the Muldoons. It turns out that Patrick was expelled from the isle for believing that the only good zombie is a dead zombie, while the Muldoons think it\u2019s wrong to dispatch afflicted loved ones, attempting to look after their undead kinfolk until a cure is found. But their bid for stability on the homestead has turned perverse: the undead are chained inside their homes, pretending to live normal lives \u2013 and the consequences are bloody.
