In fact, he will look like this:<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><a href=\"http:\/\/roberthood.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/04\/takemajin.jpg\" title=\"Takemajin\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/roberthood.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/04\/takemajin.jpg\" alt=\"Takemajin\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>This is Takemajin &#8212; a giant statue that comes to life in order to take on the politically insensitive Guilala (who is attacking the G8 Summit). As the name indicates, the character is a take on the classic <em>Daimajin<\/em> statuesque kaiju-hero of the late 1960s. Takeshi&#8217;s comedic characters seem to have adopted a self-referential quality of late, continued here with that addition of &#8220;Take&#8221; to the &#8220;majin&#8221; name.<\/p>\n<p>Director Kawasaki Minoru commented on Beat&#8217;s presence thus:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cIn the past we\u2019ve seen Takeshi-san do his costumed schtick as \u2018Takechan-man\u2019, \u2018Red and White Mask\u2019 and for the \u2018Trans America Ultra Quiz\u2019, and he\u2019s a guy who has an unsurpassed fondness for Japan\u2019s traditional art of costumery. Right now, at a time when Japan\u2019s distinctive man-in-a-suit monster films are in danger of disappearing, he\u2019s the only guy who can save this genre. I can say without a doubt that thanks to Takeshi-san, this\u2019ll be a film that\u2019ll make people say \u201cNow this is a monster film that Japan can be proud of!\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/twitchfilm.net\/site\/view\/takeshi-kitano-to-battle-guilala\/\" target=\"_blank\">Others<\/a> have spotted some good-natured sour grapes in the role, as Takeshi&#8217;s <em>Glory to the Film Maker<\/em> was soundly beaten at the box-office by a film about a battling giant hero, <a href=\"http:\/\/roberthood.net\/blog\/index.php\/2008\/04\/01\/new-big-man-japan\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Dai Nipponjin<\/strong><\/a> [aka Big Man Japan], made by one of Takeshi&#8217;s chief comedy rivals.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Ryuganji.net reports that Kitano Takeshi, the iconic actor\/director\/media personality, will be playing a costumed kaiju role in the now-in-production Monster X Strikes Back: Attack the G8 Summit [aka Girara no Gyakushu: Towako Samitto Kiki Ippatsu].
