Parodies of humanity? A mockery of childhood innocence? Things that appear human but aren’t? Tiny unnatural monsters that lurk in dark corners of the heart and mind? This is an ongoing list of movies and TV show episodes that feature dolls of various kinds that display unnatural life and (usually) an evil tendency. The list is in alphabetical order (ignoring initial articles).

A short video on 10 “real-life” cursed dolls:
Hi.
I’m looking for a movie wich I saw as a child – it’s probably from the 70’s or early 80’s. It’s about a woman who, I think house sits a big mansion, and these two dolls (like actual size kids a boy and a girl) haunts the place. The couple who live there had two children who died. And now the dead children have possesed the dolls. This woman keeps hearing child laughter and toys being played with from the childrens room – but when she opens the door, there’s nothings there. Okay….that was a long explanation…
Can anyone help me with the title of this movie??? It’s british by the way.
I like horror movies about dolls. Like Puppet Master and Ragdoll.
I am looking for a movie or possibly just a short film. It is about an evil doll that is returned to a store as defected. The doll talks to the shop keeper and she decides to take it home. The doll turns out to be evil and the woman in the end turns into a doll.
Its a doll with white cabbage looking hair (but not real hair its hard plastic) and a characteristic look with an upturned eye.
im looking for a movie , and a little blonde girl who gets given a doll , and the doll starts killing people i remember a scene when there in a supermarkert and a mans tie gets caught in a meat grinder … any ideas?
I saw a movie as a child it’s hard to remember but I’ll do my best… There’s a scene where one of the killer dolls is getting his big nose burned and its melting. Also I think it’s a family that got cought in a snow storm and found a house to ride it out and the house is filled with killer dolls.. If you might have a idea please let me know thanks
That one sounds like Stuart Gordon’s Dolls (1987) — though if you saw it as a child it rather depends on how old you are, David. Here’s the plot description from IMDb: “A group of people stop by a mansion during a storm and discover two magical toy makers, and their haunted collection of dolls.”
Okay, my mum talks of this scary doll movie she ran out of when she was young in Moffat. But all she and her sister can remember is that the dolls at some point were going after someone, chomping. The also had blood drips at the corners of their mouths. Yeah, that is pretty much it. Though my mum said she thought at the beginning people were stranded because of a storm, and so found the mansion. But, it would have had to have been made before 1972. Sorry my description is vague, but my sources were about six or seven when they wached it. Well, part of it.
In this list, the movie “The Black Devil Doll From Hell” is as of 1997. But the same movie on IMDB is dated 1984. What is the correct year of the movie?
A hug to everyone.
You appear to be correct, Gabriel. IMDb isn’t always 100% accurate, but 1984 seems to be the generally accepted date. I can’t remember where I got the original information from (possibly an old movie reference book, and those are often wrong), and I don’t have a copy of the film to check the copyright date, but 1997 is clearly wrong. I have a dim memory that there was a re-edit of the film at some later point. I’m not sure when that happened. Maybe that’s where 1997 came from. Anyway, I’ve corrected the date in the list. Thanks.
I remember a doll movie a little girl got a doll for her birthday but her mom didn’t want her to open it and then she looked in a mirror and the mirror beaks. Can anyone tell me what movie that is plz.
im tryin to find a scary movie(maybe 70s or 80s)where theres a doll n maybe a clown n she whispers are u up are u there thru out the movie??
i would really like to know the name of a movie i saw in the 80’s the film may have been made in the 70’s. the story centres around three middle aged guys spending some time out together at a mansion in the country i think. The characters might have been english? however it was a ghost story of some sort, but there was this spooky doll that frequently appeared, it may have been about 4 foot tall. I recall one scene with this doll looking out of the window from a distance.
the movie centred around these guys relationship, who were friends
im looking for a film that was made in 80s 90s.
where a little girl as a female doll that tries to kill people. and i think that the doll
tries to strangle somebody on a swing.
I remember a movie back when I was REALLY young that had these giant (slightly taller than an adult) dolls, at leas one of which could breath fire. I keep thinking it was somehow connected to Twilight Zone but I could be wrong. I could also be remembering completely incorrectly. Like I said, I was really young…
what is better puppet master 1,2,3,4,or 5
what is better 1,2,3,4,5
Hey, I’m looking for a movie that I saw a couple of years ago- it may actually have been a show- but it included a scene where a doll threw needles at a man, and the man became stuck to an alley wall, where he then turned into a picture on the wall. Another scene included the doll stalking another man in his home, and it ended with a whole army of little puppets attacking the man in his kitchen or something. Anyone seen this before and remember the name? I’d be sooo sooo grateful
I don’t remember that scene, Tahinah, but it sure sounds fascinating. Hopefully someone reading these comments will recognise it and let us know.
Trying to find the name of this movie back in 70’s early 80’s, a lady has this little African or island doll with beefs and a headress and is told not to take off the beads , she or her cat accidently knocked it over and it chased her Round the house with a knife I think it stabbed the cat and cut the woman up as well . Thinking it was a short story . Please help its driving me nuts. Ty
Ghost Story (1974) is another good one.
Hi, im trying to find this movie i watch when i was little. i Think its from around the 80’s . It was on tv in the very early 90’s as thats when i had seen it. I remember it starts off with a man out fishing at night and pulls up a box containing a doll which he then gives to his daughter. The doll is evil and tries to kill the parents and at one point i remember the doll going up the stairs with a knife singing a chilling poem/song. Im affraid thats all i can remember. If anyone can help ill be really grateful. thanks
There was this movie in the 80s. There was this illegal girl of a woman to whom her mother left one house in one small island. The girl goes to stay in a hotel just in front of this island and during the night she sees light in the house and during the day she sees someone in the window. Everytime she takes the boat and goes to this house but she finds lots of dolls and one of them even cries. At the end the house burns, the girl watches it from the hotel and also sees someone at the window.
Does any one know which movie or series this is?
I’ve been looking for this so long!
what is the name of the movie where, it has a saying to go with it that goes something like she loved her dolls like they were her own children. in the beggining of thr movie a doll was delivered to a couple who were about to celebrate and the girl was killed first
Mari, thats Dead Silence. I think its a 2002 movie not really sure. But the poem goes, “Beware the stare of Mary Shaw She had no children only dolls And if you see her in your dreams make sure you never ever scream.” I just got finished watching it last night. Hope you like it.
Oh and Salli, I think thats an episode of X-files. The name is on this site. But they find the doll while fishing, and I think the supermarket scene is similar to that. Been like 9 yrs I havent seen it. Hope it helps.
Mari and Alex: Dead Silence (US-2007; dir. James Wan)
Sally and Alex: would that be “Chinga” (Season 5, ep. 10; 8 February 1998; dir. Kim Manners; written by Stephen King)
Thanks for your help with these, Alex. I’ve seen them, of course, but after a while one-sentence descriptions of them tend to blur together. 🙂
does someone now what movie this is
its starts with a fishing trip and theres a doll found in a box that was pulled out of the water that nigt a guy dies with a hook trough hes head
later in the movie is the doll given to a litle goirl and at a public place people started to scrtch theyre eyes out at the end they try to destroy the doll by putting it in the microwave
I need help remembering a movie that I saw as a child in the 80’s. In the beginning, a dad and daughter are walking together and stop in this older shop. The girl finds this doll, and because the dad has to leave out of town for awhile, he gladly buys it for her. The little girl moves in with her grandma, and the doll starts talking to the girl and making her do bad things….she eventually talks her into killing the grandma. I have thought about this movie since I was 7, and now I’m 31. I’ve practically rented every 80’s killer doll movies that I have found! Thank u so much! PLEASE help me remember or find the name of this movie!! Thanks, again!
I am trying to find a movie I watch when I was a kid. The killer dolls were abbride doll and groom doll. Eventually the owner tried to burn the dolls but couldn’t burn the bride so the doll killed her and she became the doll and at the end a little girl found the doll.b that’s all I remember of the movie. This was old in the seventies. Thanks for your help
Hi there,
First thing, Love Old Horror Movies: that SOUNDS like Bride of Chucky, from the Child’s Play series, but I could be wrong, depending on how old you are, and relative to that, what age you saw it.
Second, Many people here seem to be looking for the same movie I am. Someone mentioned about a killer doll (I remember it being a creepy clown doll) and there was a nursery rhyme style song that played in the background (I can still hear it everytime I think of this movie and it creeps me out) and it sounds like the doll is singing are you up, are you there, but I don’t think that is what it is actually saying. I thought the name was Doll House, but IMDB doesnt seem to have any record of it. I was about 13 when I saw it, which would put it at sometime before 1990 ish. If anyone knows that would be awesome, Thanks!
AHHHHH wait! after hours (literally) looking for it, I found it by doing an image search, the movie was called Ghost House… here is a web link with a review, and an image link so those looking at it can tell if it is the one they were looking for also, as it fits many descriptions people have mentioned. This is an absolute cheese fest, but that doesnt stop the clown doll from being creepy! Enjoy!

Hello, I am trying to remember the title of a movie or show (not sure which one it was) from the 80’s or 90’s that featured some kinda odd looking purple doll with a wrinkly face that looked distorted in form and a large, toothy grin. He wore a black bikers jacket and i think a group of teens went around this dark scarey looking house during a storm one night looking for him.. When he got near them without them knowing, som purple goop would form on the edges of the screen and/or they would find puddles of purple goop on the floor.. What is the name of this movie/ show?? I’ve been trying to figure it out for AGES!!! 🙁
I think the movie Tee asked about starred Karen Black. Does anybody remember the name of it now?
You’re absolutely right, splatkat. The famous Zumi doll sequence with Karen Black is titled “Amelia” and is as Tee describes. It’s Part 3 of the anthology film Trilogy of Terror (US-1975; dir. Dan Curtis), but was so popular that it was released separately as a short titled “Terror of the Doll”.
On netflix I watched a movie where this little girl has 2 dolls and they are black and white and possibly clowns I cant remember but they has weird voices and tell her to do bad things, anyone know what it is called???
I’m looking for a particular doll movie. What I remember was a scene where the doll was next to a car. It was wearing black. Then I think it went inside the house and it had knife or scissors.
I think there was a scene where there was a fire in some kind of cabin — but I’m not sure if it’s the same movie. Please help.
Im looking for this movie about a picture the doll comes out and eat people answer my question
Michael Howard and Tom : The movie is Trilogy of Terror Starring Karen Black 1975 There was also sequel Trilogy of Terror II but Karen Black was replaced.
I’m trying to remember the title for a movie I saw in the mid 90’s, featuring a creepy scene with dolls. I’m thinking this movie was a foreign film, maybe french, because I remember subtitles too. Maybe it was in English. All I remember from this movie was three scenes (if they were from the movie at all). Maybe it was a combination of movies, or my own nightmare.
I remember a large yellow stucco, Spanish style house and a girl lived in the basement of the house. A man who was a doll maker came to visit her, and wanted to make a doll for her. Another scene is the scariest of all. The man was dressed as a clown, very similar to the clown and scene in the movie IT, but he was standing in the rain, with a grey background behind him, and had an old car with a trunk full of colorful dolls that he was trying to get the girl to take from him. Maybe that was a nightmare I had after seeing IT. Either way, if it’s not in a movie, this scene needs to be made into a movie. Finally the end scene with the credits, I remember this girl running away from the place into a field. The shot is taken above the girl, as if a plane is flying above her. If you could let me know what movie I am talking about, or give me some other suggestions that would be great! Thanks.
I’v always tried to remember this film i saw when i was too young back in the eighties. never liked dolls since.
All I can remember is dolls on top of a chest of drawers in a kids bedroom. (with bunkbeds i think also) dolls sitting there before lights went out, I seem to remember it was really sinister and haunting – when people wern’t looking the dolls heads would turn. eventually the bedroom set on fire and i think the kids died!
it was pretty dark really! but would love to know what it was
Does anybody recognize from what movie is this gif come from? It looks familiar, but I don’t know.. :

Will be glad if someone can help, thanks!

I remember a movie – black and white maybe 60’s – 70’s there was a doll shop with a women cashier and one real women turned into a bride doll and another like confederate soldier doll had a tiny gun and shot someone and killed them – that is all I can remember – was very young, maybe an outerlimits movie? It’s been driving me crazy for years – I can’t find it.
@Jessica- the movie you are talking about is in fact series Maelstrom. It carved in my memory also.It was very intense! Hope you get to see it again!:)
@Ana – Thanks for that, Ana. I’d never heard of Maelstrom, but would love to see it. I’ve added it to the list!
La casa 3 by Umberto Lenzi (American title is Ghosthouse) could be one of the movies searched by some users.
Hello Robert Hood. Let me congratulate your for this formidable list you have made! I find it quite useful.
The fact is that I am triying to find a movie that I partially saw on a Spanish TV channel almost 20 years ago. (Even so, I am sure that the movie was American). The few things I remember involves a Kid who hung a porcelain doll (which, if I remember correctly, could spit some kind of killer poison). In fact, I remember a scene where the kid asks for some cookies to an old woman, and she refuses, so the doll kills her.
Do you happen to know the title of the movie? Thanks.
Hi Folks
great list btw
I have been trying to find the name of a doll horror from the early to mid seventys
From what i can remember, the doll had a yellow rain coat
and the doll pulls out the hair of the protagonist or vice versa
thats about all i rememer other than it was scary as heck
please help
your my only help
milkman45, I reckon you’re thinking of Alice, Sweet Alice (US-1976; dir. Alfred Sole) — though there isn’t an actual evil doll in it. The child killer wears a doll mask (and a yellow raincoat). It’s really a slasher film. As an aside, it features Brooke Shields’ first acting role.
I’m looking for the title of an old black and white movie (possibly 40s-60s) with many porcelain dolls. I’m pretty sure the main character had some mental health issues and heard the dolls talking to her. It was super creepy when I was a little kid. Just wondering if anyone knows it.
Also I remember an old 70s-80s movie in colour where the cement walls were bleeding in the basement. My aunt says it’s Amityville, but I’m thinking it’s older than that. Any ideas?
Thanks!
it’s kind of funny everyone is on here looking for a movie they saw a long time ago but so am i lol…..i’m terrified of dolls so i know this is the only type of movie that will scare me no matter how horrible it actually is but i saw one on sci fi once i think & it was this black doll with sharp teeth & red eyes that someone had brought back from a trip & the dolls comes to life & kills people…..i remember being so creeped out by it but honestly i’ll take any movie about dolls, i’m in the mood for a scary movie i just need a suggestion
