Evil Doll Movie List

Parodies of humanity? A mockery of childhood innocence? Things that appear human but aren’t? Tiny unnatural monsters that lurk in dark corners of the heart and mind? This is an ongoing list of movies and TV show episodes that feature dolls of various kinds that display unnatural life and (usually) an evil tendency. The list is in alphabetical order (ignoring initial articles).

looking for the title of a movie, fairly old , black and white, with a scientist who has an army of dolls that go out and kill people and bring them back to maybe a mausoleum or some sort of basement lab. Their souls are put into the doll, that looks just like them. One is a nurse if I remember correctly, and the dolls are in a house to kill someone and running around hiding behind the furniture and curtains. I saw this movie about 45 years ago so the details are gone but it scared the crap out of me

  6. Glenda Russell says:

What’s the title of this movie, please. A disturbed young women holds several young women hostage, drugs their tea and dresses them like her dolls. I think her father was a doctor.

  7. Help!!! I remember watching something when I was younger on t.v around 2001, about a family that moved to a mansion with gargoyles and statues on, I remember a grimreaper statue falling from the mansion killing someone I think? Anyway the little girl found a doll on her bed, they became best friends and she would tell her to do things and they played hide and seek and the doll made her hide behind the bricks? My sister remembers watching this with me but was younger than me and doesn’t know what it was calle so at least I know I wasn’t dreaming it! I can’t find ANYTHING online that sounds like this film/ programme?

Please help! My boyfriend remembers this movie where children are looking at a store thru it’s front windows and they see dolls that look just like other kids who disappeared, and when they go into the store, I think the children become the dolls & are trapped? It’s not “Needful Things”, but he did think it was Stephen King, maybe, but I couldn’t come up with anything…

    Hi Robert!
I hope you can help me figure out an very old question for me. Saw a movie in about 1976 at a drive inn, it was the second feature, in St. John New Brunswick.

Her’s the plot …loosely. A woman is in Venice searching for her missing sister, she hooks up with a local police officer or P.I. The search the streets of Venice, traversing up and down flights of stairs by canals….other young woman are also going missing….there seems to be a serial abducter on the loose. In a parallel story line we seem a man in an older shop on an older cobblestone street. The shop has a large window which displays large Porcelin dolls, that appear to bear a striking resemblance to some of the missing women.

I have tried to figure out what this movies was, it had great cinematography, really rich colours, great scenes. What I don’t recall is wether the doll maker killed the woman and then made dolls that looked like the women or wether he somehow transformed the women into these porcelin dolls.

Hoping you can help solve this mystery! 🙂
    Suzanne

Looking for the name of a movie from around 80-90s. Can not remeber the whole plot but in one scene a little girl is standing in a room where there are glass patio type doors. I believe it’s storming or at least raining and she’s holding her doll which is about as tall as she is. Can’t remeber if the dolls name is Chandler or the little girls name is…the doors blow open and dry leaves blow into the room…I have a hugely bad memory lol. Any of this sound familiar? I’m not even sure if the movie is horror genre or not. Thank ahead of time for any assistance

  17. Aye says:

Val, hi. I believe the movie you’re referring to is “Dolly Dearest” (1991) It’s about a man who moves his family to Mexico because he recently bought or inherited a doll factory that he wanted to put back into production. Nearby, an archeologist is excavating an old tomb and ends up unearthing an aincient evil spirit which posses the doll(s). One doll, that the factory owner’s daughter grows especially fond of, has the little girl acting out and getting fresh w her mom. The scene you described is towards the end. The little girl is standing in the house and there’s a storm taking place. The wind blows the doors open all over the house and there’s leaves blowing in. It gets pretty evil. It’s one of my favorites. There’s another that I’ve been searching for lately. I haven’t seen it in a while and I noticed that it didn’t make the list. It’s called “Pinnochio’s Revenge”. It’s not the greatest story but it involves a killer puppet and a little girl.

  18. Adam says:

I’m trying to figure out the name of the movie or tv show where a ventriloquist doll is in a house or apartment with this woman and the doll appears on a potty chair with its pants down. She puts him up and he appears there again and I remember the doll eventually killing her with a knife. I want to say it was black and white too but I can’t remember.

  19. Adrian says:

Hey a previous poster – Ian – asked about the movie I’m desperate to find.
All I can remember is that a doll kills people and there’s a scene where a girl is in the forest and she may be the doll. There’s a scary asylum in the film and it ends with the sole survivor driving away and the suitcase on the back seat opens and the doll’s hand comes out.
I’ve been trying to find the name of this movie for years.
I saw it in NZ on a programme called The Sunday Horrors about 30 years ago.
    Please please please help.

  20. Ireen says:

  21. Naomi says:

I have been driving myself mad for a good few years trying to remember a scene I vividly remember!!
All I remember is a girl has a doll which she doesn’t want anyone else to touch, and I remember at some point she stabs her own hand with a pencil and faints.
I know it’s a long shot but my god I need to find it!!!!

  22. Mimi says:

I have been searching for this movie my whole life. I was a little girl in the 70s when my mom put some horror movie on which freaked me out. There’s a scene where two little girls sneak a couple of pies to an attic bedroom where a bunch of dolls are hung on the walls. Suddenly the dolls’ eyes light up and their arms and legs start moving while two pies fly across the room and smash into a wall. I don’t remember the name and I didn’t stick around to see more (lol). I’d love to find this movie and rewatch it to banish away that childhood terror. Please help. Thanks!

  23. Summur says:

  28. BrokenToys says:

When I was a kid I saw a movie with a little kid (cannot remember boy or girl) that was given an ventriloquist doll. Kid was scared of it. Parent got fed up with kid and forced him/her to take doll to bed. As I recall, the movie ended with parent coming to the bed in the morning, and only the doll was in the bed (ate the kid?) Any idea what that movie was? I have loathed those dolls ever since! PS, movie has to be prior to the mid 70’s.

  29. Samuele says:

BrokenToys: I think that it is an episode of a tv show, not a movie

  30. Ana says:

Does anyone know this? I think it was a show. All I remember is that a little girl had a barbie doll collection and I think a nanny. The dolls were alive and one of the dolls bit the little girl’s finger. I think in the end it turned out her doll collection was made up of all her nannies…. the most memorable part of the episode was the part where the doll bit the girl’s finger….anyone?

  31. Jhene says:

Hi. Wish I could help with some of these other movies. Some of them sound really cool and creepy.

I’m trying to find a movie that was made in the 70’s (most likely), about a little girl who has a dollhouse that is a replica of the house she lives in with her family, with doll replicas of family members. She can control the actions of her family by moving the dolls around in the dollhouse. She gets angry at one of her older, female family members (or perhaps the housekeeper) and throws the doll down the stairs. The real woman falls down the stairs and dies (I think she dies. Saw it as a kid)

Only found one other post about this from 2002, and no one was able to help. Perhaps I’ll get luckier? Thx!

    • Bri says:

I’ve been searching for this for years. Or at least it sounds similar to the one I remember seeing as a child. There was also a dog that walked in on the woman being killed

  32. Emre Sümer says:

I’m looking for a movie that freaked me out as a kid. If I remember correctly, the movie was in black-white and small toys were attacking people. A man caught one of them and throw it into the fire and smashed the other one with his foot. And there was the disgusting scene that I can’t still forget after all those years: IT HAD INTERNAL ORGANS!

Someone know the name of the movie? Please tell me, I’m desperately searching for it: knighteen_87@yahoo.com.tr

  33. Rachel Vanover says:

Looking for a movie I watched as a kid where a little girl sings, “sing a song of sadness, pocket full of rye, everyone is happy today, cause someone’s going to die.” Also, an old man falls down a large flight of rock steps.

  34. Emily says:

Hi I’m driving myself crazy trying to remember the name of this movie it’s a ventriloquist movie probably from somewhere around 2008-2009. It involves these twins a boy and a girl whose mom gets murdered and leaves them a dummy that protects them but when they get older the girl uses it to kill people. She’s crazy the brother is mute I believe he’s always dressed as a cowboy it’s definitely a b movie.

  35. Robert Hood says:

As the creator of this list, I’m grateful to everyone who has come on here to comment, to ask for help in finding a particular film and to help others by making suggestions. I haven’t been able to help very much, which suggests there must be other films out there I haven’t come across. Sometimes, too, the descriptions are so typical of the genre that they could be referring to many films and the distinctive bits simply don’t ring a bell. I apologise for my poor memory.

I have to say that this topic generates much more interest than any other of the film listings that appear on my site!

  36. Lynn says:

I’m going crazy trying to remember the name of the movie (guess it could be a TV show but I’m pretty sure it was a movie like Creepshow) where one of the stories involved a woman who was cursed to turn any man she fell in love with into a Cabbage Patch doll so she was mean to everyone. Finally, she thought that if she could at least like someone who she truly hated, she could break the curse. So, she proceeds to have a date with this guy that she can’t stand but is so head over heals for her it’s crazy. Throughout the course of the date, she does start to see his good qualities and while she doesn’t “love” him, she starts to genuinely like him, therefore breaking the curse. She is so happy that she tells the guy what he did for her and he becomes so angry that he turns her into a Cabbage Patch Doll. Apparently, he had the opposite curse as she did.

I first saw this in the 80’s but I’m not sure if that was when it was produced.

If anyone remembers what this came from, send me an email at heifer2cow@yahoo.com.

    Thanks!

    Hellllllp!
I have vague memories of a film on TV in the 70s…it might have been made for tv or a feature film shown on TV… Anyways, not about an evil doll per se but what I remember is a rag doll.of some sort and that someone (maybe a coven of witches?) Places a mark on the doll’s forhead with blood. I remember creepy woods. Witches (maybe). Apart from that I just remember I was young and it was on TV a couple.of times… It’s been driving me crazy for almost forty years now… Help!!!

  39. RinnyRue says:

Been looking for a movie for some time now, I’m not sure how old it is, but I THINK it’s at least 10 years old. Literally all I remember is that a doll talked to a little girl, I’m pretty sure the doll didn’t move on its own (or if it did, it was never shown on camera), I’m also pretty sure it didn’t move its mouth or eyes, and was definitely smaller than the girl. The doll would tell her to do things, like play with her, and I feel like the doll convinced the girl to kill her parents/caregivers. I’d really appreciate any help on this, as I can’t find anything on it at all.

  40. Natashia says:

Looking for a movie that others have mentioned. It’s about a guy on a fishing trip and he finds this doll that he send’s to his daughter…… the dolls evil and will talk to her and the mom knows it cuz when she looks into a reflective surface she sees the way they die? There was an old lady who slit her own throat with a record cuz she was mean to the little girl…. and a lady in a shake shop who’s hair gets caught in the blender? Been looking for it for years

  41. Kash says:

I’m trying to find a movie kinda like trilogy of terror but the doll was wearing a sash that said don’t remove the woman bought it as a gift for her boy friend…she could help herself and she removed the sash the doll had like a Mohawk and a little Axe and would say ”chop chop”

  42. Sam says:

Tales from the hood- is the movie of the picture frame with the dolls that come out and there is also a old lady in a rocking chair that comes out too, its been driving me crazy to find this movie after years, enjoy.

I’ve been looking for a movie for years now that I saw around 1999, the movie might be older than that but I think that’s when I saw it. I remember this porcelain doll and the teenage girl who owned her. The girl and her family were moving to a new house and the doll was forgotten on the street outside.  I remember it coming alive and later they tried to throw the doll away in a dumpster but the doll started choking the person (I don’t remember who it was). I was around 5 or 6 years old when I saw this and clearly traumatised by the fact that my beloved dolls might try to kill me. No one seems to remember seeing this movie or it’s name, but I really would like to see it. I’m pretty sure it’s nowhere near as scary as my child self thought.

Can anyone help me? I’ve bee. Going insane for years! I very vividly remember just a small scene from a TV show (I assume) I think it would’ve been in the early-mid 2000s. I remember there were two girls, one had a slightly charred doll with her and was telling the other girl how the doll was hers now because she didn’t want it… Then it cut to a scene of the doll being on fire and calling for help. That’s all I saw of the programme! Please someone help me?

PS: Karen (most recent commenter) I think you might be describing an episode of Round the Twist! The doll was called Veronique

Hi, I hope this is still a thing. I’ve been going nuts for years now trying to remember a movie I saw the trailer for years ago. I was very little and all I remember is this short clip of the doll swallowing someone whole, stomach inflation and all. It absolutely terrified me as a child and I’ve wanted to go back and rewatch it since.
