Whatever you think of the Asylum’s previous genre productions, I suspect they’ve got a winner in Mega Shark vs Giant Octopus (US-2009; dir. Jack Perez [as Ace Hannah]) … provided you like giant monster mash-ups. If you’re in doubt, check out this just released trailer:
Cheesy? Sure. Fun? Oh yes, definitely ….
Understatement of the Year: “We’re dealing with a menace!”

I’m actually something of a fan of the whole Asylum thing, it’s like William Castle is still around. Who can forget “Snakes on a Train”, “Alien Hunter”, and numerous others.
Will for sure be hunting this one else. Let the schlock be with you.
Absolutely! Me too! These guys rule and this one looks to be their best yet. Can’t wait!
I couldn’t agree more. What amazes me is the huge number of viewings of the trailer that has taken place both here and on my YouTube page. The YouTube version alone has been viewed some 348,424 times and has accumulated 1,053 comments, all in 3 or 4 days. You can’t tell me there isn’t interest out there. Oddly enough, a large proportion of the comments are knee-jerk negative reactions. Why would anyone interested enough to watch the trailer be so passionately critical? Oh well, I guess it’s easier — and cooler — to bag out The Asylum than to admit that the film excites you, big budget or not!

I’m waiting for the sequel: “Mega Shark and Giant Squid Team Up Against the Transmorphers”
I’d be there for that one, coffee fan!
