The following Flash animations were created as part of the 16th Aurealis Awards ceremony — Australia’s premiere awards for speculative fiction. The gala event took place on 21 May 2011 at the Independent Theatre in North Sydney, Australia. The 2011 Award Ceremony was organised by SpecFaction NSW, with sponsorship from HarperVoyager. MC for the evening was bestselling author, Garth Nix.
These animations — one for each category of the Awards — were created by Robert Hood and featured in a backdrop projection along with listings of shortlisted works and winners (as reproduced below).

I love “Flight from Damascus” and that whole Horror Novel animation cracked me up uncontrollably on the night.
Thanks for putting me onto the Crooked Fiddle Band!
You can thank Brian Yatman for the introduction to the Crooked Fiddle Band, Thoraiya. He chose the music. I’d never heard of them myself before this. Glad you enjoyed the show.
Great work Rob. Thanks for taking the time to post this on the web. I know a lot of people who couldn’t attend will be delighted to experience the ceremony.
Cheers, Nathan.
