Think you’ve seen it all? Think again!
Dai-Nipponjin [aka Big Man Japan] (Japan-2007; dir. Hitoshi Matsumoto)
Thanks to Todd Tennant for finding that one! (Plus a nod to Kaiju Search-Robot Avery, who sent me the info independently a few minutes after I’d put it up! — “I knew about it last year, but it slipped my mind!”)
That is the most bent thing I’ve ever seen!!!
Sort of like “Calamari Wrestler”, with a bigger CGI budget.
Yeah, this one’s hit several festivals and gotten rave reviews. It was recently acquired by Magnet Releasing, a new division of Magnolia Pictures. That’s the company that was famous for releasing “The Host” [2006]. It’s supposedly about a very reluctant giant super hero that’s no longer loved by the populace because of all of the destruction from his battles.
Definitely sounds like my kind of movie!
This movie was called Dainipponjin in Japan. It’s gone through some film festivals and is said to be a funny mocumentary.
That’s a preview for an event at the Alamo Drafthouse – South Lamar location in Austin Texas.

The Alamo, as it’s known around here, always has great events like this. One more thing to love about Austin.
P.S. I’m not affiliated with the Drafthouse in any way, just love the place.

What’s the point with this video? Is this unusual for average Japanese life or something? They are so clever with gadgets but I would not encourage their interest in genetic engineering. I could be wrong though; it might just be heavy metals in the fish again….
I miss those little tin robot toys they used to make. That was their golden era.
Point, Pieter? It’s a trailer for a movie, a fiction movie. I’m not sure what you’re suggesting it is?
Ha ha ha ha
