Oh, I’ve seen this artist’s work before. In Spectrum, I think (fantasy & science fiction art annual). Same character/s, but playing chess.
…and one of them is called Cletus.

I actually don’t know what the source said as it came from a Russian site. And now I can’t find the page. The link I gave as the source doesn’t appear to be the precise link … Oh well.
